How it works

Where today's number comes from

You set a monthly budget once. Each morning Tantino divides what's left by the days left, so the number always fits the month.

  • Spend less today and tomorrow gets a little more.
  • Go over and tomorrow adjusts, so the month still adds up.
  • Rent and bills can stay out of the daily number and still count in the month.

Features

A day with Tantino

  1. One tap for the usual

Coffee, the metro, the bakery. The things you buy every day wait on Home as Add again chips. Tap one and it's logged, with Undo if your thumb slipped.

  2. Snap the receipt

Take a photo and Tantino reads the shop, the total and the date. You check it and save. You sign in once to scan, which also backs up your expenses.

  3. A big buy doesn't sink the day

When something costs more than three days of spending, Tantino asks how it should count. Spread it over the month, leave it out, or keep it in today. You can change your mind later.

  4. One nudge, only if you forgot

On days with nothing logged, you get a single reminder at the time you pick. Log something and it stays quiet.

  5. Tomorrow starts fresh

At midnight the amount resets. Spent less than you could? Tomorrow gets a little more. Went over? Tomorrow adjusts for you, with no red warnings.

FAQ

Questions people ask

What is Tantino?

Tantino is an expense tracker for iPhone and Android. You set a monthly budget, and it shows how much you can spend today: what's left of the month divided by the days left. Log an expense in a tap or from a receipt photo and the amount updates.

Is Tantino free?

Yes. Unlimited expenses, every currency, the monthly budget and daily amount, backup and sync, and CSV and PDF export are free, with no ads. Plus adds more receipt scans, typed entry, recurring expenses, and reports and forecasts, for $2.99 a month, $19.99 a year with a 30-day free trial, or $39.99 once.

Does Tantino connect to my bank?

No. You add expenses yourself, in a tap or from a receipt photo. Tantino never asks for a bank login.

How is Tantino different from other budget apps?

Most budget apps connect to your bank and sort your transactions after the fact. Tantino answers one question while you're out: how much you can still spend today. You log as you go, and when you go over, tomorrow's amount adjusts instead of showing a warning.

Do I need an account?

No. Everything works offline on your phone. Sign in with Apple or Google when you want a backup, sync between phones, or receipt scans.

What happens when I go over?

Today's card turns peach and says by how much. Tomorrow's amount is worked out again from what's left of the month, so the month still adds up.

Can I leave rent out of the daily amount?

Yes. Turn on "Leave rent and bills out" and they stay out of the day's number while still counting in the month.

Which currencies does it support?

147 of them, each with its own decimals. Yen has none, euros have two, Kuwaiti dinars have three.

Which languages is it in?

The app is in English, French, Spanish and German, and follows your phone's language. This website is in English for now.

Can I get my data out?

Yes. Export every expense to CSV or PDF from Settings, free and offline. In French, Spanish and German the CSV uses semicolons and decimal commas, so your spreadsheet adds it up.

Tantino is coming to iPhone and Android. Free to use, in English and French first.
